[QUOTE=Turbo86;742878 What are those two holes in the passenger floor? Is that an AC thing?[/QUOTE]

Oh hey, Turbo86, a further update on "those two holes". You thought perhaps the body shop guys might have made these holes for access purposes (entry #86). I was just going through some old shots that included initial teardown that was performed, at the point in time when we were determining what REALLY needed to be done to make this car wonderful again. Here you can see that these holes already existed, and were almost certainly original. Not sure why yours doesn't have them.

This shot also clarifies why the entire floor needed to be replaced. The creation of iron oxide was pretty complete in this area, and I was told a screwdriver could be poked through without effort pretty much all over the foot area.

Default Status Update - 6-19-2022

Happy Father's Day to those of us who are!
Another week, more progress. Brand new fuel tank is now fully coated, new sender installed, and scheduled for install to car this Monday. At that point, fuel system is complete, tank to carb.

Note: these shoes are STILL not my Filson's...

Here is a shot of the new console, new flex fan, and new front grill. Oil pressure line is going to be copper, rather than the nylon line supplied, for increased durability.

And a great closeup of the master cylinder/booster installed and plumbed.

Finally, a nice shot to remind us all how the times, they are a'changin'… Don’t see many lighters on dashes these days (or maybe, surveying current events, 'daze').

Lots of new parts. It's going to be a beautiful Camaro. Thanks for the updates.

Very interesting on those holes. My car has almost no options, so that would play a big part in not having the holes. Maybe someone else can chime in on the holes and there purpose. I would assume they have to be plugged up?

1st Gen,

I've got some feed back from another forum and someone mentioned battery cables from the rear. Did your Camaro have the battery in the trunk and cables ran up the interior and through those holes?

Either way, you need to have your guy plug those holes up, if you have not already.

So, 'negatory' on battery in trunk in the past. However, the future is a different story, as there will be a battery there impending, to power subwoofer amp and main amp per my earlier conversation about sealing the trunk with high-density particle board and solid maple. However, that battery will have a fused positive lead (#4AWG) from a battery isolator in the engine compartment and a negative lead from the battery-return common bolt on the engine block, and they will access the wiring loom tray on that side, but not via these holes, as far as I know. When you first enquired on April 8, I queried Bryson, and here is his answer: "The holes you referenced are access points that receive grommet seals, easy answer there!" So, yes they will be sealed before the carpet and other coverings go onto the belly pan/firewall.

Default Not done, but the end is in sight

A 4th of July update, a trifle early. At this point, the headliner is in, dome light working, sailboards in with lights working, vinyl on roof is done, steering column is complete, but steering wheel left off to make wiring and gauge work easier, turn signals tested through to all bulbs, windshield wiper motor and mechanism tested, center console loosely installed, but cannot be finalized until carpet is installed. However, all gauges are enabled. Brake system is fully bled and tested, fuel tank is installed, and sender wired to fuel gauge, drive line is refinished, with new universal bearings, and is installed, speedometer cabled and end gear just arrived and will go in next week, back-up light is installed at Hurst shifter and tested, Astro ventilation is fully installed and tested, horn is installed and tested, ammeter gauge is replaced by voltage gauge (yay), new windshield is on order, padded dash is still back-ordered, new regulators and glass for doors and rear panels arrived yesterday, awaiting car transfer to body shop. Radiator and ancillary parts will go on Wednesday and Thursday, and engine start is anticipated for either Friday, July 8, or Monday, July11!!! Once engine break-in is complete, upholstery and carpet will be scheduled, then it's over to the body shop for install of remaining sheet metal, and other body-shop work, like new tires, wheel restoration, bumpers, badging, trip to exhaust shop, etc. Wow! I'm starting to feel it!

Sounds like you'll be grinning ear to ear behind the wheel soon!

Oh Yeah!!! Already grinning.

I'll be traveling down for 1st Run/break-in 2 1/2 hour open-header entertainment of the neighborhood. Wow! As prep, I've been spending some time on Driven's YouTube videos, getting some level of education on the concept of break-in as it relates to cam shafts main/rod bearings, valve trains and rings. Learning why Break-In Oil is heavy on zinc and light on detergent and NO MOLY. My dad was a US Navy machinist and so I was raised with familiarity of honing processes, so felt somewhat comfortable with what I was seeing and hearing.

In honor of the occasion, I bought a shirt to wear:

Hah! The shop has a mix of Chevy owners and Ford owners, but I am what I am, and it's all that I am, like Popeye the Sailor Man.

Love the shirt,I know those numbers well, been etched in my brain for decades along with 28-32 degrees and 0.19 gap.
I had a Mopar with the same firing order, thinking maybe the dizzy rotated the other way but can't remember as that was more'n 50 years ago.

Well I'm very jealous of your progress. I would be so giddy at this point too, so your almost there. Great work.
