O... I have been quietly following along. What color is your car?

I used the metallic red from the 00-04 corvette. Its a 3 step process. A base red, then a translucent cherry, then clear. I was told later by another car guy that there's a one step color out there that I could have done. I wished I would have known that or done more research. Maybe that would have helped in future repairs and the fact that there are bubble spots showing up. I think mine was painted to fast in between the 1st and 2nd step.

Its nice though. I understand the color matching deal. I went custom with my 78' and lost the reciepe. My 80' will get a silver that is a stock Camaro color so if I dent it I can fix it without trying to match colors.

I just joined the forum and ran across and read this whole thread. wow that looked to be a long journey for you but well worth it. not really a project I think I would want to tackle myself.

Great job and great thread. if you don't mind sharing.... about how much has this build cost you? was it worth it or would you the next time buy one that was already restored from the ground up?

wow. I just spent the last 2 hours of my work day ignoring my job and reading through this thread from the start. I've learned a few things i think will be important to me before i start my project... first, that I don't want to do very much body work. and second, that I want everything I modify to have already been through testing from someone else, and i buy it from them. haha.

great write up and thank you for continuing to update!!

Yes reading threads like this changed my mind on doing a project like this. I had considered it. it showed me that I do not have the patience or the will to take on a project of this depth that will take years to complete.

I do admire those like her that do and has taken on and followed through till the end of a project of this magnitude. and I take my hat off to them.

this is why I chose option 2, finding one that had done the hard work for me, and left me with just little things to do. but those little items and things I found out also can cost you some $$$
