OK, thank you, Was the vin stamped on the trans? we decked the block so what was there is gone.

While most SS's in 67 have the partial Vin on trans/rear axle not all Camaros did. In 1968 partial Vin became a federal requirement.

IMO GM was doing it in 67 for warranty reasons, They knew people where racing these cars and they wanted to be sure the part they where fixing where original to the cars. In 68 the feds forced it as car stripping became a thing.

As Gorn suggests, only SS's & Z/28's had VIN stamped on them.
Otherwise, the P-O-P had the engine code on it.
