Default VIN on 67

New on this forum..hoping to get this cleared up..I'm looking at a 1967 Camaro that will be my first if I buy it..I asked for the vin and this is what he gave me: 124377N132750..I told him it needed to be 17 characters..he said this is on the bill of sales..I went on this forum's VIN thread and seen the statement that the earliest year covered is 1981..Please advise
..what I'm really wanting is the HP..He said it has a 327ci and said on the valve covers is : 327/350HP..
Thanks

Cars had 13 digits until the 1981 model year, when they went to 17. So what he gave you was correct. The VIN didn't contain any engine codes until 1972. Labels on the valve covers doesn't mean squat. What you want is to look at the numbers on the block pad in front of the passenger side head. Does the partial VIN on the engine match the car, and what is the suffix code? Suffix code tells how the engine was built: Camaro Decoding help on Chevy-Camaro.com
