MSD distributors are Chevrolet points type distributors with Ford electronic ignition trigger. That is different from other ones I have seen .Have you tried to contact MSD ?.They are usually pretty helpful. On the plug wires There are spark plug wire kits out the to custom fit the way you want to fit your wire.Along with different looms. There is also Thermal sleeting material to protect your wire from excessive heat. There are the MSD crimping tool .that give it a professional look .And are good for other applications.

As Zspoiler suggested, check point dwell and change spark plugs.

Check the timing, if it's a lockout set up it will idle at total advance which isn't smooth for the street. That can be undone. If not locked out, check the advance sweep for any stutters No points in that unit, so no need to check dwell. You can use an ohm meter to check the plug wires. Check the air gap at the stator with non metallic feeler gauge (usually .010"). Also check the voltage at the + side of the coil.

Update on Distributor and running issue. Installed the Pro Billet distributor, MSD wires and plugs, runs really nice now. Again, thanks for all the advice
