Value of DZ block in the car
I purchased a '69 Z28 that has a 350 block and 302 heads, intake, carb, but came with the nbr matching DZ 302 block. I'm curious how much value would be brought to the car with the block in the car as opposed to outside uninstalled? Thank you! Car is about a 2 minus on condition scale.
Only makes a difference if and when you go to sell the car, or if you intend to show the car for points. The value difference between a matching #'s Z/28 and not is considerable. Look up matching and non matching ones on ebay and see what they're going for. Might want to have the block checked to make sure it's rebuildable. If the block is trashed, you won't be able to rebuild your car as a matching #'s Z/28. But, still having the original block is better than not.
Thanks for the response. I've done a comparision and am aware of the price difference, but I was thinking as the car sits today it would be worth more than one that is non numbers matching since the matching block comes with the car? So, I am trying to guage whether to go through the trouble of putting it in. I would put it in with my stepfathers help. But, I'll have to buy a list on engine internals as I have a bare block. So, this is a kind of a grey area. If a matching numbers car is worth $10k more than a non, then I suppose I'm somewhere in between that as it sits today.
