Default TH 400 Kickdown switch

Hi everyone
I was installing a kick down switch for my brothers 68 Firebird that he bought from The parts Place in Elburn Il. The problem is the switch they shipped out is a normally closed switch. Does anybody know where to get a new/refurbished switch? The PO went out of his way to clone a 400 ram air so we are looking to keep a Carburetor mounted switch>

What I understand the 67-68 Birds mounted them on the carb (69 on the floor). There's a bracket that mounts to the rear of the Q-jet that has a push button. (power taken from the wiper motor). The linkage has a "paddle" that hits the switch at WOT. I assumed the Camaros were the same but it makes sense that they used the floor mounted switch. Maybe thats why these things are so hard to find. I used Lokar's set up on my 68, works great but not exactly "original" looking.

Put a DPDT brake switch on from Painless so he's all set until we find the right switch. Anybody have one, let me know.

Default Turbo 400 Transmission Kickdown Switch 1969 Firebird Work Around

I found a replacement part that worked for me.

I have a 1969 Firebird 400 Convertible and the plunger busted on the near impossible to find Kickdown Swtich for my carburetor mounted Turbo 400 transmission. I did find one at Yesteryear Antique Auto Parts in Florida but it was like $400.

I found a work around part that was an inexpensive solution for me. I thought it might help others with in the same spot.

The switch I used is a Standard Brake Light Stoplight Switch Part# SLS-110 - I think it is actually a cruise control as the Kickdown Switch for the T400 needs to be pressed down to engage the passing gear.

I have enclosed a picture that shows how it is set up. It works fine so far and now when I press down the gas pedal my 69 bird roars like it should.

I also posted a picture of an acceptable part number (I think!). I also put a picture of what I think is the original kickdown switch for the T-400

No guarantees but this worked for me for now. Anybody have a real one at a reasonable price, please post info here.

I also posted this with a couple of more pictures at:
