replacing gas tank
Hey everyone! I have a 69 camaro 307 powerglide car. I am about to drop the original gas tank and replace it and the sending unit. MY gas gauge just quit working. Does anyone have any tips on replacing the gas tank, or things to look out or replace while under there. Im getting the repro tank, sending unit, and new fuel line. Am i missing anything thanks

RE: replacing gas tank
The best tipI can give is don't smoke while messing with the gas tank!
Siphoning out as much of the gas that you can will help a lot. Dropping a tank even with only a quarter tank will make it an awkward struggle. Drop it slowly, and down on blocks so you can check to make sure you're not ripping any wires or hoses. What condition are the mounting straps in? If they are rusty-crusty, it would be a good idea to replace those as well. Once the tank is down, it will be a good time to clean, de-rust, and paint/undercoat the under-body and frame area too.

RE: replacing gas tank
Okay thanks for the responses. I have not really paid attention to the straps but i would like to detail the undercarriage, so i might just replace them. What would u recommend to coat the underbody with?
