Read my post below...the 67 COWL info accounts for the SS as option 4P and RS as option 3L. The 68's and 69's exclude that info. I read somewhere that this is why the 68's are common for SS clones.

The guy I got mine from paid $27k based on it being a numbers matching SS. If I were a betting man Id bet that it was not. but the things I have found usually arent seen until you start tearing a car apart. just one of the reasons Im not big on numbers matching. the other reason, I want a Camaro that I can do the way I want it so if it was numbers matching Id just screw it all up.

with that said, Zak... if its inside your budget, and its really nice then buy it. I have a bad habit of over paying for things that I want myself. Id just try to stay as far under $30k as you can.

Anyone that refers to themselves in the 3rd person gets a in my book.

Thanks for the pricing info....$30K I can live with....$28K would be sweet assuming it comes back matching.

I don't have the time with 5 kids and the equivalent of 2 full-time jobs to restore a car....at least not until at least 2 or 3 of the linoleum lizards move out of the house. Considering they're 2, 4, 7, 9, and 16...I don't see that happening anytime soon. So in the meantime...I just want a nice ride that I can cruise in...preferably one that is somewhat original that was tastefully built.

I was referring to SS in the true sense of the word.....with a #'s matching engine.
Without that, it used to be an SS as far as Camaro 69 is concerned. lol

I gotcha. If the numbers on the engine don't match the car, I'm out. I'm with you 69...I personally feel it adds to the story of the vehicle.

Quick update on the 67 SS/RS. I left off on Friday morning with an email out to the dealer. He said he would need the weekend to get the numbers for me. Not hearing anything, I called back today and the dealer told me he had the casting numbers off the head and rear end. Said he couldn't access the block numbers because they were too hard to access behind the distributor. He also said that the transmission pan had been replaced with a new chrome one so he didn't have the numbers from that and that the numbers on the trannie itself were gone. So looks like I'm only going to be getting half the information I need....
