Default New to first gen camaros and wonderin what im gettin into!

Hey, right now i drive a 65 f100 and im switchin from tha dark side and goin GM. Recently found a local 67 camaro convertible that needs some body work not to mention everything mechanical except the chassis. I can do general work on cars, engine stuff, etc, and i have a reliable guy for body and paint as well. I dont know how to post pictures on this- but id be happy to learn if someone would tell me/ or i could email them to someone. Id really like to know how much work this needs before i commit to it! Thanks- tha names Dave

Either of these should help you- you can upload them through the attachment system or, if you have some form of offsite file hosting like photobucket, you can post them using the [IMG] code.

Wow....I'm guessing 30K+, blood pressure medication, and possibly a severe case of Turrets Syndrome!

Really? Not doubting just wondering. I can do body work- just not sure what needs to be done. If it is structurally rust free (i will check this extensively before purchase) then i dont see any major replacements besides front clip, quarters, and convertible top. (just talking about body work here) if youre seeing something im not or know something i dont please enlighten me! Thanks

Well if you can do the body work then you will save yourself allot of money. Cost me around 9k for the body restoration, welding of my seat frames, and paint. Took a year to do that part and I was very fortunate of the guy I had doing it. Everything else my hubby and I are doing. One reason its taking so long cause life gets in the way allot. But we are still motivated and want to finish by the end of the year. Color is Magnetic Red from the Corvette. Since you have nothing of the interior to work with, the money you save doing the body work you will spend on everything else you need.

Yours looks like mine did and you will want to get it blasted to see whats really left....surface rust or spots that need to be cut out and replaced.

So far I'm up to about 31k and I'm not making mine for show but to be a DD.

Right thanks for the input. My plan is to have the body done by summer and finish everything up to the engine/tranny in the summer. (no job in summer). Just blowin steam- nothing final yet. Im also lookin into a 1st gen GTO or a lemans GTO clone
