Default M21 to M22W conversion

Here is a quick picture of my new Muncie that I purchased from Riverside Gear. Old Muncie had 2.20 1st gear ratio, new one has 2.56. Cant wait to get my car back on the road again and hopefully hear the "Rockcrusher" whine.

Welcome, Clark, to the Club.
Nice buy, you might check speedo gear to keep the same MPH, unless its already done.

Gear tooth design gives quiet or whine operation. Straight cut gears whine more and are stronger.

Thanks. Riverside gear asked for the rear end ratio and the tire size, so I hope the speedo is accurate. I am hoping that with the new ratio's in 1-3 gear that my car is a little more spirited. I have a fun grudge match against my buddy this spring.

Deeper gears will make for a little quicker acceleration.
Go even more by getting an alum flywheel and a 10.5 clutch - Physics - less mass, faster acceleration.

You are right about that. My engine is an LS7 so hopefully it should have plenty of power. I found a few problems with it this winter and fixed them so hopefully it will run better. Most significant problem was the coil was hooked up to the factory resistor wire which was indicating 5.5 volts at the coil. I have been misdiagnosing its sluggishness as improper carb tuning. Rookie mistake on my part.
I have since fixed the voltage, installed AEM 02 sensor, just received M22W, new MSD distrib and wires. Hope to test drive in next week or two.

Experience is the best teacher.
So is this a carbureted and distributor install or does it have its PCM and its OE SFI?
IF EFI, you will need to add high pressure fuel pump and return line.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. The engine is an old school LS7 454 with carb, single fuel line. Everything looks stock even down to the air cleaner snorkel. I will post some pics when I get it back together.
