I have a 68 rs/ss with M21, Hurst shifter, engine is 396. I just recently bought the car, so i dont know everything about it just yet.

Heres my problem...when i got it I had to adjust the linkage on the transmission got that all lined out and was able to get it in all the gear, so i took it for a drive.

I was going about 20 mph in first, shifted into second and the rpms spiked up, and you could hear it wind out, almost like I down shifted...is that really possible to reverse the gears like that.
