Default I know this is a touchy subject because it contains the word FORD, but,....

Has anyone out there considered using a electric fan off of a mid 90s Lincoln Mark VIII or a Cougar or a T-Bird.
these stock fans pull prett crazy cfm’s (I’ve seen it before) about 3,000 and I’m going to put one on my 1st gen.
ive got it on order so it will be here any day but I hoping to find some sort of tutorial on how to write up the relays before I purchase one to control the fan speed.
anyone out there done it and care to share?

You can buy a electric fan relay/T Stat kit like this. It has install instructions you can download to get a idea on how to install it

https://www.jegs.com/i/SPAL/063/185F...m_content=SPAL

Depending on the fan though, it can draw 30 amps so you will need a big enough alternator to absorb that kind of load

thanks for the link SoCal. On high speed it draws 35 amps.
how can I tell if my current alternator can handle it? I’m a little lame on this stuff but trying to learn.

I believe the stock alternator is about 55-60 amps. If you don't have AC or a big stereo than it should be OK with adding a 35 amp load for the fans. IDK what size alternator you have but they make alternators with 100+ amps if you do have AC & big stereo amp

I have AC but it doesn’t work and I never plan on fixing it. As a matter of fact, I would like it removed.
and no big stereo.
its not a stock alternator. Is there somewhere on it that it would indicate output?

IDK how to determine what output your alt is. If there is a brand name on it and a model # you could look it up

ok thanks. I’ll pull it off and look it over. I suppose there has to be something on it that would indicate that.
