Default High Output Alternator

Recommendations for a replacement alternator. Current alternator output less than 14 volts. I am considering a higher output unit and need a recommendation on amp rating. Thanks!

Unless you are running a lot of extra stuff on your car a stock alternator should be all you need but if you think you need more 100 amps should be enough for most applications.

Which Alternator? . This might help. I ran a 100 amp Powermaster when it was enough. Now I run an MSD 160 amp for the extra stuff I've added which includes electric water pump and electric crankcase ventilation pump. I run a 5 foot 4 gauge wire to the battery with the 160amp. Voltage drop from the batt. to alt should be less than .5 volts (not running). Alt operating rpm range can be adjusted with pulley ratios.

check your EL fan wiring requirements...often they are 20-30 amps each. Fuel pumps are not much but I would allow 10 amps for that circuit unless install instructions say more.

Those 2 "extras" take you to at least 100 amp alt. If you have a big a$$ stereo...go more
