HELP Identifying V8 engine

I have 396 motors but still ended up using a 468 !!

Yes but weren't those just in heavy trucks like dump trucks and 2 1/2 ton box trucks etc.? Aren't pickups and Suburbans the short deck like cars?

I'm pretty sure pickup trucks and Suburbans had the short deck 454 up through about 1990. After that they still had 454's but there were some changes like no place for a manual few pump to bolt on. If you go looking for a 454 probably 9 out of 10 you find will be mid to late '70's pickup/Suburban or motorhome engines.

Verify the deck height before you buy it, and remember the gen IV & V big blocks are different than a Mark IV big block. What car do you want to put a big block in?

I’m looking to swap out the 327 in my 1968 Camaro. I was hoping it would as simple as just swapping both engines and changing out the front heavier duty suspension spring to compensate for the heavier engine.

You will need to swap out the heater core, small block heaters end up with the hose connections to the core right behind the cylinder head with no room to hook it up to the hoses on a big block swap.
