Question generator light stays on

my 67 coupe generator light comes on when I shut off the motor but if I hit the key to the start position just quick enough to engage the starter then turn off the key the light goes out. I have recently replaced the ignition switch and starter but still have that issue, any ideas ?

Could be a bad switch internally - detents not in exact alignment with switch contacts.

Assuming you still have an external regulator setup, try whacking the regulator with the handle of a screwdriver. One of the contact points could be acting up. Fyi, some of the aftermarket regulators are electronic, which is less problematic than the original style mechanical ones.
