Default Gen 2 power steering woes.....

I've put a big block in my 67 and along with it a gen2 power steering pump, but all I'm getting is fluid all over the place, partial steering and a whole lot of money in this project. Does anybody have good advice on exactly how these hoses are supposed to run. Or if I need a regulator or something to make this work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks

Sorry, Back in the day we used to swap 60's and 70's pumps all the time back and forth no regulator unless I got super lucky. You have to be sure your have high pressure to high pressure. The high pressure hose is key since its all one part and it only fits one way. You would need to know where the fluid is coming out. If you have to separate areas with paper towels to narrow the search. I don't know you but if I go by friends that have asked me for help the number one cause would be a cross threaded hose. I have seen power steering systems build too much pressure before. They can go until a hose blows or belt will slip and not drive the pump. If they run really high pressure they will get hot. On build 4wd trucks with say 44" tire the pressure get pretty high and those guys can go through a junk yard pump in a month or two. As long as hoses are good and installed right they don't leak until the pump started to come a part.

They do make pressure gages for checking this or you can just grab any hydraulic gage that goes to 6000 PSI and make up a hose. Last time I looked for a friend it was cheaper to by the tool then to buy a decent gage and have a hose made.

I would recommend if you continue to have issues get a filter on there. I am not a fan of running filters all the time but if a pump fails it can send metal into the box and it can damage pretty much everything in the box.
