So I understand from reading some older threads that there are not many, or any, off the shelf performance exhaust systems (aside from stock / oem systems) for a 67 convertible - no cross pipes, x pipes, etc. At least that's what I think the deal is.
My situation: I have a 67 327 / 210 hp convertible, owned for a year. The car came with some fairly rusty, once chrome, headers and a poorly-matched system behind those (where the head pipes meet the long tube headers) - it leaks a ton there, doesn't even sound cool. Aside from the headers, the system looks pretty stock. I would like to put something on there, from the headers on back, that has a good sound, and might even give a little performance boost (although my hopes are realistic there).
OK, so just to put a bow on this - I went with a Pypes RacePro 2.5" dual exhaust with an "X" pipe. Those who have done an exhaust kit install know what a ***** it is getting the 7 different connections to be configured and twisted just right, so it hangs just right (and sometimes you need to cut off some pipe, etc.) Plus the hangers they give you don't really work, at all, for your particular car - so you have to get creative and deploy your knowledge of the various exhaust hanger configurations out there.OK, yes, the exhaust sounds Awesome (kept the 3" headers that were on the car when I picked it up last year) and I am glad I did it, plus the old system had rusted pretty bad and was leaking, so something had to be done - why not do it better?
ANYWAY, as for the cross-brace topic, I did buy that unit from Hotchkis but it did not give me enough room. So I bought the spacers the parts places sell, and modified the OEM cross brace to work with that (had to cut off a few inches at one end) and the exhaust tucks up pretty well.

thanks - yes the 4 post lift makes life much easier working on my cars - as does a heated garage. But I def. put in my time banging knuckles with my back on cold concrete under a car on jack stands doing winter projects. Ah, what fun!
