first build 67 convertible
Bought a 67 rs/ss rolling chassis . Need complete drivetrain to finish. don't want to do a LS. Thinking more along the lines of a 383stroker with EFI and a 5 or 6 speed manual. First car build so Thanks in advance to those who can impart wisdom, personal success or dont dos because wont work without modification.

Keep in mind that a first gen convertible in its stock form drives like a wet noodle. Mine is about 325HP and I am not really interested in more power. Sure it can go and stop in a straight line but a torque launches can be problematic. Most drag tracks are not going to let you on since an SS stock can run 13.3. Any rag top faster then 13.5 needs a cage. Also keep in mind that is you try to stiffen up to suspension you can damage the chassis, Back in the day GM marketing wanted a rag to Z28 the engineers said no the heaver sway bars and springs would cause the car to twist too much and cause permeant damage. After you put your motor in and you try to jack up the car you will be amazed how high you can get one tire off the ground before the second tire lifts.
Hotchkis and a few other make weld in frame kits to improve this. I am not sure how well they work on have the hotchkis center braces but my car was missing its factory cross brace. I can't give a compare since I never had a stock on. The hotchkis also has room for dual exhaust.
