Default any body differences between RS and SS

I've been looking for shells of camaros lately on the internet. and I was just wondering if there are any differences in the body between the RS and the SS models. as in fenders, front end, rear. etc.

I'm a newbie looking for a few answers.

thanks,
John

In general no. The differences are in the years; 67 and 68 are the same 69 is its own. They are really just subtle differences. As far as the SS/RS the only major differenc is in the headlight covers for the different years. There are some exceptions as in the placement of the marker lights and the hanging of the fenders. The tail lights are also different, otherwise ther arent any real differences. You can have an RS or an SS/RS or a Z28/RS. RS came with the hidden headlights, if you see an SS or a Z28 with hidden headlights it is also an RS but the SS - Z28 badges 'out rank' the RS badges so it will have those instead.

thanks for the reply man, whats the main differences between years? you say that the 67 and 68 are basically the same. How is the 69 it's own body? it have major differences? It does seem like the 69 is a very popular year

69 is the last year for the 1st gen. All the kinks were worked out by then so it didnt have as many problems. Some of the body lines were exagerated, like the front fenders. Placement of the turn indicators and some other lighting were changed by then as well. The hidden lights in the RS version were different as well, you could have the lights on and they still functioned with the shades covering them. There were other changes as well, try google imiges to compare - or do a search of this site and see some of the differences.

ok cool, thanks for your help.

I'm seeing the differences now in google images. the main thing I notice is the turn signal indicators being different in the front. I'm not really seeing the exaggerated lines on the fenders but maybe I'll look at a few more pics and try and be more observant lol

I have been looking at the front ends of the 69 camaros, and I am definely a fan on the un hidden headlights design.

is there a way to convert the front end of one thats the hidden design into that of the un hidden headlight design?

The RS fenders are different from standard, in that they have mounting tabs on the inner edge by the grill, and the hideaway light frames bolt to them. You don't like the RS headlights? If you find one equipped with them, I'll trade you. I wouldn't mind making mine have hideaway lights.

I dont k now why I didnt just say that to begin with. I was thinking (hanging the fenders) it but just not saying it.

OP, you dont like the RS look? Thats a first. I guess you could convert them to non RS, but why?
