Default differences between 98/99 and 00-02, and the z28 and ss

Hi. Any advice given would be much appreciated. Im 20, a marine, and live out in california. i drive a automatic 95 mustang gt right now, i know thats ****ty. anyway i want to buy a newer z28 or ss but im having some trouble finding out the major differences of the two.

first i wanted to know the differences between 98 and 99 z28s and ss, and the 2000-02

Secondly i would like to know the main differences between an ss and z28 besides the difference in horses. ie is the suspension upgraded, intake, brakes maybe...etc?

well thanks if you can give me some advice.

The hp rating between the Z and SS is just marketing hype, don't let anyone fool you into thinking otherwise (this is coming from an SS owner as well). The main difference is the hood and wing, an optional cat back (worth maybe 2-5 hp) then the suspension. Brakes are the same, intake is the same.
Overall the 98-00 cars are the same, in 01 all LS1's got the LS6 (or ZO6) intake manifold, otherwise the cars are all pretty much the same (98-00 cars had a very very slightly bigger cam, but nothing that would actually add any noticeable HP)
