so i have this bad *** 69 camaro that i pretty much built myself back in 1997. i am old now and it kinda sucks to drive cause it is ridiculously loud, fast, and breaks the rear end loose so easy. plus it is uncomfortable and other stuff.
early 90's 502 motor in it. i rebuilt it myself with 7.5:1 pistons cause i put a procharger p600b on it running into a pro systems modifed holley 950. it has a spool in the rear end with ladder bars for zero rear end wrap. 225/50 r15 front and 295/50r15 rear. old trans-am disc brakes on rear. plus the power brake cannister and master cyclinder. works ok.
i need some help making it more comfortable and relaxing to drive on the street.
when i built it there really was no internet and forums such as this one.
are there other big camaro forums?
would like to know how to put in some super comfy seats, the quietest exhaust system, it essentially has 3 or 4" pipes going tthru some pretty much open mufflers. i can't fit power steering on it cause of the vintage air sytem tha ti installed and never finished.
has anyone built an old 69 so it is pleasant to drive instead of loud and stupid fast.
what would the best rear end to run in it so it corners a bit better? it has to be putting out 600 plus hp's. it has i think an old nova 12 bolt in it. with c-clip eliminator kit.
so to recap
any other big camaro forums out there?
what rear end to replace spool so it drives nicer
any tire suggestions?
comfy seat suggestions?
should i remove the roll cage? kind of a pain to get in and out of.
Budget? I would be tempted to remove the roll cage and install a modern drive line for either a modern camaro or like a 06 GTO. There are plenty of people running power steering and vintage air, you just may need a pulley/bracket set.
A agree with the above that selling your car and just buying a stock camaro may be your cheapest and easiest way to get a cruiser. The only thing I would do to it is a modern carb/bolt-on EFI and update it to a modern ignition system..
