67 camaro
Start wire from the switch to the starter. Somebody would have had to re-do the wiring to run that line through a switch, if that's what was done. You say the wires from the button go to the starter? Trace them to see where they connect.
Good advice given. First Gens didn't have PUSH-TO-START buttons, but as said, may be a PO installed ejector seat, or missile launcher...
In the other forum, you did not include the PTS switch in your description of the no start problem.
I suggested there the symptoms you are observing are unusual, as you said the warning lights come on, but you have no headlamps or brake lights. The Camaro has one power wire from the engine compartment.
Comes through the firewall and ic rimped with leads to fuse panel, ign switch, and headlamp switch.
Ign sw powers the warning lights and ign power is parallel with headlamp power. Strange to have one and not the other, but, stranger things have happened.
As suggested, you trace the wires to/from starter, and let people know where they go. Voltage on them?

Both wires on the button go to the starter solenoid? When you said earlier "We were able to start without using the key", I presume you were jumping the terminals at the solenoid, or in some similar fashion? With that being the case, your solenoid can't be bad.
Maybe it's a bad wire that runs from the button to the solenoid?
Or, one wire coming from somewhere else (presumably the ignition switch) and the other wire from button to the starter?
So I found out the problem its most likely a faulty neutral safety switch because i put the car in neutral and it started right up. But it wouldn't start when it was in park, so I'm going to take a look at that more tomorrow and find out for sure. However i never did get that red button to work so i removed it from the solenoid, it could just be a broken button or something. But thank you guys for the help and knowledge.
