Default 67 camaro

I just started working on my 1967 camaro that has been sitting in my driveway for years. the motor and everything like the starter works perfectly fine. We were able to start without using the key, so we know its nothing to do with the motor. but when you turn the key only the dashboard lights come on. there is no clicking noise or anything from the motor. the brake and headlights also don't turn on. I've tried changing the ignition lock and switch but the same thing happens. brand new battery that is reading the right 12 volts. I'm really new to working on cars so all the help i can get will be really helpful.

I noticed you read someone elses thread https://camaroforums.com/forum/67-69...y-ideas-46772/ about having similar electrical problems.
I pretty much gave the whole verbal schematic of where to check for power and what connections to watch out for.
Have you gone over all of those places with a test meter yet?

whats concerning me the most is that there is a red button located on the bottom of the dash on the left side. im thinking thats something you push to start the car but nothing happens. i followed the cables and it leads to the starter. do you know anything about cars having that?

For the horn relay, look right below the voltage regulator.

Somebody added that red button, perhaps as a security feature. Hard to say without being there. Is it like under the dash, or on the front down low?

yeah the horn relay is reading 12v so is the voltage regulator. the red button would be where your calf is on the left side under the dash. its pretty noticeable. easily accessible also

Maybe they hot-wired the neutral safety switch.

and for the record..... the RED Button is almost always for the passenger ejection seat.

would that have to be attached to the starter? because the wires from the red button end up leading to the starter. but ill have to check if they aren't corroded or detached from it.
