Not true, you can order a brand new one built to the same specs as the original.

I view that as the 32 ford bodies out there. nothing replaces the original though.

Well in a way I agree in that I would prefer a one that was made in 1969 and was still mostly its original sheet metal. But you have to admit some of the "restoration" are just all new body panels put together with the shop Mig welder. When it gets to the point that only part of the roof, firewall and cowl and dash is left from the original 69 then what is the point.
The reason they originally came out with these was because of the cost to correctly restore a rag top. To do it right was pushing 25K. Because of that there was a lot of unsafe rag tops floating around. I would love to know how these companies get around the Vin number thing, unless they are buying basket cases a swapping the vins?
Before Danacorn this was a ragtop restoration. No GM parts here

that was the purpose of the new bodies you swap the vin over to the new body. you probably could go through the channels as a kit car like a glass t-bucket or 32 ford to get it registered to drive.

You would have to talk with the local DMV and local police. A few locals have had a cop come out to watch the swap and look at the previous car to show its basically trash. You would have to do the same thing if having to repair rust on the dash.

If just doing a repair to the dash or jamb (67) they don't do a thing with the title. If you have no vin number a sheriff approved by the state has to look over the car and they will reissue a new title with the new state DOT vin. Had to go through the process on a 61 impala. Had the little tag riveted to the front of the jamb and came off sometime in 5 years of ownership. Never noticed the loose tag.
