Default 2017 SS manual tranny forced 1st to 4th shift

Can someone give me the 411 on this. The manual does not explain it at all except to tell you that if you don't do it when prompted you will damage the transmission.

I think there's a kit to eliminate the skip shift.

Hey,
It was first put in the Corvette. Since our SS driveline is Corvette minus 1 gear; we have it too. It sucks. GM put it in for Fuel Economy ratings. It is not even for our benefit. It was set up so that General Motors could get better average F/E over the entire range of vehicles they sell.
Did anyone here buy their Camaro SS to save gas? I think not. 🤔 We should have the option of deleting it.

There is a small device available that plugs into one of the tranny wiring connections. Very easy to install and/or remove if necessary. I installed in on my 2017 Stingray with M7 and it worked a charm - man I hated that skip shift crap. Google should find it for you or check on the Corvette Forum
