I think the new Camaro looks f'in awesome. Although i think a lot of the issues with GM styling lately is their photographers. I've disliked a lot of GM's styling wise from the pictures and then, after seeing it in person it's a hell of as lot better. Take the current Chevy Silverado or Trailblazer, their pictures made them look ugly but both are pretty good looking in person. The pics of the new Camaro are fantastic, but all they are is pics... and the styling could undergo small changes by production time. I'll reserve most of my judgements until i see the car in person.

I'm in this camp, new here but had to chime in on this subject.
GM IMHO is asleep at the wheel as it were.
The new Dodge Challanger coming soon shouts classic muscle car and the new Mustangs are sweet looking with classic Mustang style and selling like hot cakes, wake up GM.
I've been a Chevy guy all my life (be 50 in a couple weeks) and we just bought a new Mustang ragtop.
What can I say? it's not like there was a new Camaro to look at and the Mustang is a sweet ride so I had to go blue oval.
Please GM bring me back to the bowtie.
At least it's an American car,I've never owned a foriegn car yet.
Nice liscence plate in the pic, it would take a **** to sell a Ford. Just kidding though, I just don't like the new Mustangs. I'm Chevy all the way, but I do respect the older Mustangs because they are a classic and go way back with the Camaro. (And like you said, at least its American)

Anyway, back to the original topic. I used to like the new Camaro a lot, but now I think they could take it back a little more, make it a little more old-school.. Even if they don't, I'll be satisfied with the Camaro name, but I think a lot of people would appreciate more of a tribute to the classic Camaros. In 2002 they stopped making Camaros because sales weren't where they would have liked them to be. Personally I think that sucks, but what happens happens. GM should completely blow everyone away with the new Camaro, with more packages like the Z28 and SS to appeal to more people so the sales stay where they should.

Im not ******* the new Camaro, Im actually really glad they are making one again, but I think a few things could change.. Either way I would buy the new one.

by the way i was driving to work the other day and i saw what appeared to be a prototype el camino, the thing looked awesome, it had kinda like the new monte carlo GFX, but a pointier front end, it had quad exhaust, and awesome rims, with the bed in the back. it had a manufacturer's plate on it and he was turning to go back into the parking lot when i saw him.
that would have been a Ute. it is one of GMs cars from down under. they are doing a lot of work with them over the last few years

I have to say that when I first saw the new Camaro, I thought it was ok at best. I have since seen it running and driving around other vehicles so I could get a better opinion, and I have to say that it stills needs tweaking in my eyes, but after seeing it in person I really like it a lot more

When I look at the concept pics for the new 'Maro, I see...
A little bit of all camaro generations. The rear fenders scream first gen, the long slopey hood says second, the square aggressive bulldog muscular look reminds me of third gens, and... ok, I don't see any fourth gen in it, but I don't like the fourths anyway (sorry, 3rd is my favorite). There is one motive behind GM pulling out the new camaro - money. They'll do whatever they can to get money. The Mustang/charger/challenger market has a big gm gap, and the new maro may fill that. Hopefully Chevy will learn from the GTO - a few people will buy the high-po version, but most will want the looks without the cost. If it can ring in cheaper than the Mustang, it'll sell (maybe even outsell the 'stang). If the 'maro will have a broad appeal to the masses, it'll have broader life to it. I don't think gm will have to worry about that initial explosion of sales, but it'll have to be able to compete with the competition to survive a full generation cycle. It blends the past with the future in style - the accents from former generations with the aggressive looks of the "futuristic" cars of today (ie RX8, etc - the "new" thinkers). I don't necessarily like how they've done it, but I do like the aggressive look. IMO, the 3rd gen is the most visually pleasing - that big square front end coming up in the rear mirror is def. more frightening than a mustang. And everyone knows mustangs are chick cars. That's what seperates the Camaro from the Stang. Mustang says "Where's the Beef?" Camaro answers "Right here". Course, it'll have the watered-down variants to boost sales, but there'll be an SS or Z28 for those who love the power.

One more thing, I don't see an LS7 'Maro from the factory. I don't see the 'Vette team letting anything from GM match the vette.
(I know there's a caddy that comes close, but it's uber expensive, so I won't really consider that.)

I don't know if I will try to buy one. I think i will have to wait, sometimes cars grow on you. I was'nt a huge fan of 3rd gen, now it is one of my favorites. Of course I think a 69 is the best, but i have to agree with Hugger; if you want a 69 get one. They can try to be retro but they have to be original at the same time.

With all that said i am not a fan of the new look.

I have been a camaro lover since I was about 6 years old and the guy down the street from me had a 69 SS black on black with white racing stripes. That car was just amazing. I grew up around gm cars my uncles got a 1971 Chevelle and my dad has a 87' Grand National and an 87' Turbo T. I'm only 18 years old so by the time I got my license the camaro was done with. My parents wanted me to get a new car for college because i was driving an old beat up 91 cavilier so the only choice i really had was the mustang and i love the car. When i heard that gm was coming out with a retro camaro i was estatic but i have to say that i was just disgusted with that horrible looking car. I mean is it really that hard. If gm would just realize that people dont want the futuristic look and do what dodge is doing they would hold my interest. All they have to do is reproduce the 67-69 with updated technology and i guarentee you that they would sell alot more then the mustangs. I have never come across any car guy that didnt like the 1st gen camaros. JMO
I agree.. but I also agree with some of the people that say new camaro, new look. I think GM should have a new look, but just make it a lot more like the 1st gen camaro's. I don't like the taillights too much, and I saw a drawing of a Camaro concept with taillights just like the 1st gen and it looked great.. Out with the old, in with the new? Ok, on the outside make it look like the old Camaro's, and on the inside have the new.. thats how I would like to see the Camaro.

That goes to show You that everyone has opinions. The new probably won't be successful with the present concept look. It's too far removed from the retro design that's so popular today. The Mustang is a huge success and the Challenger will be too. Chevrolet and Pontiac have to appeal to the masses. If They don't, The Camaro / Firebird will go the way of the 4th Gen and We'll probably lose Them forever. It's not what We as individuals like that will sell these Cars. It's what the Public will buy. They have to soften the design and have it a little less radical. It's not a Corvette and shouldn't be treated as such by GM. Corvette buyers want a radical Car but the average Camaro / Firebird buyer wants something more akin to the Mustang / Challenger. If We want to have Our Muscle Camaros, They have to sell a whole bunch of base cars first.
