power steering noise
My 2001 Camaro has had an intermittant noise when the wheels are turned at low rpms. Its a groan. I had the pump replaced and it still does it. I also replaced the serpentine belt. I know its the power steering and not the ball joints or suspension because you can see the power steering hoses vibrate. any help would be appreciated.

RE: power steering noise
Sometimes the seals get stiff and cuase the fluid not to flow as easily. That or the powersteering fluid starts to foam due to air and water in the system. Before you go and have your rack and pinion rebuilt/replaced go get the fluid flushed out.

RE: power steering noise
My 01 z28 does the exact same thing. I was thinking it was the pump, but I just noticed fluid on the drivers side boot of the rack... It usedto usea little fuid, but some lucas PS leak sealer slowed it down dramatically. The rack is clearly the problem on mine. My symptoms include a noisy pump after sitting overninight (from air in the system) which goes away after only a couple minutes.I wont hear it the rest of the day. During those first few minutes the fluid is opaque, from tons of tiny bubbles, but looks clearly different than water in the fluid would. Hope this helps you.
