Hello every one. I have a 1989 Camaro RS automatic. It has a 305 in it but the rings are shot in it. My grandfather past away and I got the car. So here are my thoughts. I have a mid 70's 4 bolt main 350.I am going to bore it .030 over. I want to put a good set of rods with some keith black flat top hypereutectic pistons, around a 500 lift cam, a set of heads with 202 intake valve with a 1.6ratio roller rocker arms, roller lifters, and a nice intake carb set up. What do you guys think. I do have one question, do you have to use a roller cam in order to use roller lifters and rockers. Also please feel free to give me some advice.
Thanks,
Justin

You have to use roller lifters on a roller cam, but you do not have to use roller rockers. This should be a nice street motor.

i also have the same swap as you, i have a 1976 sb in my 87 camaro. my advice is if ur gonna have a roller cam, spend the extra money on roller rockers too, they may be a little expensive, but that motor will run forever. um, what i can tell you, is you are very limited for under hood space. the only reason i can fit my aircleaner and edelbrock carb is i have a very low-rise intake manifold. unless you were to buy a cowl hood, u have pretty much no hood clearence. another thing i can tell you is you cant have true dual exhaust unless you would cut up the body to do it. i currently have a single 3 inch and will soon have a dynomax bullet on it. you can always have one 3 inch, and have it break into duals at the muffler. i might as well say that ur description is pretty damn close to my motor, so if you have any other questions about it, i may be able to help.

Sounds like a good combo. I suggest looking into the Vortec heads if you are on a budget, if have the dough then go for a set of nice aluminum ones from a good company like AFR, Brodix or Edelbrock. Remember to match the cam and torque converter and rear gears, the company tech lines can help with this.
