Default VOLTAGE REGULATOR

1970-V8-350 with new alternator.2 wires coming from alternator replaced and connected to old regulator, original disconnected, no other wires connected to regulator. should I reconnect original connection. original wires run true to wire diagram. need help please

Its probably too late, but have you thought of putting in an alternator w/an internal regulator?
If it is possible to return the one you just got, you could get asingle wire alt from jegs or summit at a very reasonable price,and omit the voltage regulator alltogether. Just a thought.

Ditto on that. What you want is a Delco 10-SI alternator. They were used extensively in the 70's, the regulator is internal. You can Ebay a chrome version for about $70. Over the counter at auto parts stores a natural finish for about $45. If you have A/C or accessories requiring more output ask for a CS-130 one-wire. This is a newer GM alt with more output.
