are you planning on buying it new? You can get most bare blocks from a junkyard like LKQ for 50 - 100 bucks depending on. If you need to buy the entire engine you can get a gm 350 from jegs or summit for about a grand a half and if it's going in a GM car it's got a 12 month or 12,000 miles warranty. LKQ sells whole engines starting at 250 here by me but you have to pull it from the junker yourself.

You might want to check craigslist also. I see small blocks all the time on there.

Not any 350 small block. Any Gen1 though should fit but you might have to make sure it will mate correctly to your transmission but that shouldn't be too hard. The LS series 350's you'll have to buy special motor mount brackets which you can get from Detroitspeed.com which are based out of Charlotte, NC. Also if it's fuel injected you'll need to get harnesses, etc. If it's carb'd then it should be a fairly standard swap.

thanks. I never had to replace an engine before so this is kind of a scary experience. The car originally had a 305 in it that was pulled before i got the car. It now has a 350 turbo trans. and all I need is an engine.....i hope...haha you know how that goes...

Yeah, I know how that goes. My engine and transmission are sitting out in the garage right now. Will be upgrading the cam, valvetrain, and timing here in the next couple of days and hopefully having it back up and running within a few weeks.

If you decide to go with a new engine, the ZZ4 series from GM performance parts may be an answer, Extremely good engines, very reliable. morethanjustpower.com has about the lowest price there is from 1,700 up, much less than summit. Ill attach a pic of my ZZ4 350.
