Default Fixing a ding with bondo

Hey all i have a ding in a door that i tried to repair with bondo.I sanded down to bare metal, applied the filler.Well i started shaping with 100 grit, then went to a 220grit and finalized with 500 grit. The problem is when i put primer on it i can still see the shape of the filler under the primer. My question is,do i need to use different sand paper? for some reason i just cant seem to get it feathered.

try applying a new coat of primer. also, apply your paint ontop and see how it looks. You should beable to featheredge with the 500 grit paper. I dont know why its not looking right. Use the sandable primer and coat the surface again. then sand, the prime/fill with the primer filler. sand and continue untill it goes on smothe.

I work as a painter at a body shop.If I had to take a guess I'd say the bondos not feather out enough.Body man send me stuff like that all the time.

Yea, thats why you should use the spot putty to fill in between the bondo and the good body. That way it is straight and smothe.

Good luck
