rice vs muscle launch, roll and everthing inbetween
hey me and my buddy are gonna race soon (just for fun) and his car seems to be pretty fast, i've seen him race quite a few people and hasn't been beaten yet, hes got a 92 integra 5spd with a b18 in it and my car is... well in my sig below. what i'm wanting to know is what would be the best method of launching my car from a standing start (as far as clutch amount and gas amount)? it really likes to spin the tires on me even going around 40 mph if i floor it they'll spin and pull the car sideways a bit. but there is also the question of the top end part of the race, from what i've seen his car will do 140 with maybe even more to go, what would my car top out at, or would the race be over before top ends were reached? give me your thoughts people... please?

Get better tires. If you are braking traction at 40 MPH with a 180 crank HP RWD car then you need better tires....
You did not tell us any thing about the intergra. And its not hard to beat a bolted integra man. Unless he has a engine swap the factory engine is one of the folling two in the US.
B17A1 Power: 92-93 GS-R: 160 hp (120 kW) @ 7600 rpm & 118 ft·lbf (159 N·m) @ 7000
or
B18A1 Power: 92-93 Only: 140 bhp (100 kW) @ 6300 rpm & 126 ft·lbf (171 N·m) @ 5000

Agreed, better tires will help haha.
But.. i checked some website that say your car has about the same horsepower as him, maybe a little more. That doesn't help you haha.
You've got a lot more torque, which will make you pull harder, as long as you get better tires that don't pull you sideways haha.
But he weighs much less. Like.. almost 600lbs less. I think it'd be a decent race, but because of such a weight difference.. I think he's got you. Sorry bud. Give er a shot anyways.
As for launching, once you buy new tires, go test it out. Rev er up to 2-3 grand and slip the clutch quickly. If your new tires hold, it'll be a fairly close launch, you have much more torque but he's got much less weight. Then from there just shift like you normally would.
