went out this weekend and met up with some guys to race.

Started out slow, had a Daytona try to race me and because I was bored I decided to rip him open.

Later we ended up running into a guy with an lt1 trans am. The kid seemed nice enough.... but he didnt seem to know what he was talking about, but he said he was set to race a civic.

We asked him about his car, he said it was stock except for a chip and cam (wouldnt you want headers and intake before a cam?). he said he did the cam install himself, but i asked him about the cam and he couldnt tell me the specs "at least .5 lift, i needed new springs". um..... ok....
Next I had him start it up. It idled just like a stock car. He revved it and I didnt hear anything, just sounded like crappy mufflers on a stock motor.... whatever

So he said he had it at the track, and we asked him what it ran:
"mmmm, like.... a 12"
"a 12? what do you mean, high, low?" we say
"Like a medium 12".

so his car runs a medium 12.... and he also told me it puts 325 down to the wheels.

ok, so my BS-O-Meter is pegging at about this point. and eventually the kid in the civic backs out because of a broken motor mount or someBS (the meter was broken by this time so i couldnt tell....)

so my buddy with an 03 mach1 challenges the kid, and to his credit he accepts. They line up and the TA (being an auto) gives 3 honks. the mach tears him a new ***. I mean bus lengths. I guess the kid couldnt get traction. So they then go from a 20mph roll and my buddy, for some unknown reason, decides that 2nd is the appropriate gear for this [&:] the kid won by about 2 cars (for those still paying attention, the mach1 1st can run up to around 50 mph). they didnt get a chance to redo the roll.

so later that night I decide to line up on the mach. we are on a long straight divided stretch of highway wiht nobody around and no entrances for a good mile. he gives the honks (which I wasn ready for so i had to rev up fast and try to launch) and I take him by about a car out of the hole and just keep pulling slowly until i was between 2-3 ahead by the middle of 4th (little past 100mph)

we were going to go again, but when we were about to line up we noticed some headlights coming up behind us and decided just to pull off. It turned out to be cops. they got out and asked us what was up. to my buddies credit he said he had some overheating issues, and then, playing along, as the cops were leaving I asked one to come over so i could borrow his flashlight . we poked around for a couple minutes and then went home.

overall it was a good night
