i thought that the chevelle malibu and the chevelle ss both had the same body kit, but came stock with different engines.

I don't think they made Chevelle SS in 73...correct me if I'm wrong but even if they did, in 73 it would have been more of an Appearance package.

Find out what engine it has

yeah made a SS in 73, some had a 454 in them , but it was rated alot lower than the 70 454SS...
