HE CLAIMS TO HAVE A 350 LT1 TPI, BUT I DONT BELIEVE HIM....HE SAID THE ENGINE WAS STOCK.... BUT 1985 STOCK CAMARO IROC CAME WITH A 5.0 V8 305,, PUTTING OUT 215 HP......

WHO DO YOU THINK WILL WIN?

 

the 350tpi was available in some years (unsure about 85)

even tho the hp difference isn't that big, he still has more tq than you...it will be close but I think you will take him

 

you have a 231ci 200 hp engine, he has a 305 with 165 or 190 hp. These are stock numbers from the white book. What other mods?

also, the IROC will have between 215-235hp

 

Beautiful bar dows mine looks exactly the same only mines a Z and as for racing that iroc u should beat him. i killed an 86 iroc a few weeks ago

i thought 3rd gens came with the option of a 350... my 88 is a 305, but there are 350s... and how is it a TPI LT1? i was under the impression that the LT1s came out in 92 in the vettes?

 

85 Iroc-z will have a 215hp 305TPI.

It'll be close. He'll have torque to mop the floor with your car, but run past 60mph and you'll have a chance.

LT1's appeared in F-body's in 1993, the first year of the 4thgen.

 

Yea you will probly take him. A kid i know had a 84 (i think) camaro, with a rebuilt 350 and 4.10's, clamin over 300 at the wheel. we went from a stop light i didnt know we were gonna really race till i heard him floor it so i floored it and didnt hook up. My back tires are bald, but i blew by him like it was nothing. So i have faith in you good luck

 

Ok, let me clear things up....

You are both pushing around the same horse, he may be pushing less. The thirdgen's weight difference is 400lbs. lighter than you, and their suspension owns yours. Unless you get a perfect start, your chances of winning are slim.

Only one year of the IROC came with 215HP. I don't remember which year it was. The rest were 190 or below. The kid may have a 350, but it's not an LT1. LT1 motors are 346's. and were not even made for a camaro until 93' like Dan said. The 350 I beleive was an Option, but it is not pushing anything more than 215, if it is stock And no he does not have more torque than you.

As for your car, You may have a few more horses, and torque, but don't let that fool you, the Thirdgen's are a force you don't want to reckon with.
