Not being hostile, I just can't stand it when people start bashing because someone tells a story about a "win" they had that statistically the shouldn't have won. A race is a race and driver error or lack of skill often occurs especially on the street. I know the couple of times I have raced cars I know I should have beat, im sure they've gone somewhere and said "I beat this Cobra today" because I missed a gear or dumped it or whatever. I screwed up and lost, I would hope they prance around and tell people, motivation for me to make myself a better and more consistent driver.

Yeah theres alot of cars that can beat an Enzo, but at the end of the day... Guess what your 10 second drag/maybe barely street legal,thats only running once a month because your constantly fixing, re-tuning and trouble-shooting something on it... It's still not an Enzo. Thats a little extreme comparison, but come on. "I drive a Vette" Girl replies "Oh my uncle that works at a bank making $60,000 a year owns 2 of those". "I drive a Ford GT" Girl replies "Your place or mine, and do you mind if I invite a friend?" Thats of course if they even know what a GT is because, let's face it, it's a woman.

Current prices? The only Cobra you'll find for 27k better be an 03-04 and be in pristine condition.
And if your suggesting a 00 SS to an 03-04 Cobra were close in performance stock-to-stock thats somewhat what this thread is about, and the SS is clearly no match.

Im talking doing motor and drivetrain mods, and keeping it a true street car.And no F/I...Anwyay I was saying that even if you spent that $4k poorly you could overcome an SS without a problem with a 99-02 Cobra. And there was no 00 Cobra they only made the Cobra R that year.
You could put $4k into a $2k Foxbody Mustang an make it run high 11's. Now do I think you could do that with a 3rd gen Camaro, no but im sure you have a different opinion.

First this competing Z06 still doesn't exist yet right? And were talking, buy a GT off the floor and this new Vette strait off the floor and take it to the track, no tuning, no gutting, factory tires everything right?

Your right, take a stock GT and match it with a Z06 and the GT will come out on top.. But, if your racing it at a track it doesnt matter if its street legal or not, at least it shouldnt. And the prices, I was talking about new, not current prices. To be truthful I don't know how much cobras cost these days. You can get an 01 Z28, which is pretty much the same as the ss for less than $10k now, but like I said, I dont know about the cobras.
It doesnt matter anyway, no sense in arguing about something stupid. The GT and the Z06 both are powerful machines, but if I had the choice, I would prefer the Z06 because of the price, considering if I spent twice as much on the GT I wouldnt have twice the car. just my opinion..
and I didnt mean you were boasting about your car or anything when you beat that ss, im only saying that with both cars in prime condition, with equal drivers, the SS could come out on top, and yes, i know you recognize that. I was only pointing it out. and not to further any argument, but what are the 1/4 mile times on an 07 Z06 and a GT? I don't own either, and I've never seen a GT run at the track, so I was wondering. Everything I have seen has been different.

The GT is a whole Honda short in cubes even!

Looked for the 07 Cobra specs, didn't relize no one has tested it yet! Atleast that I could find.

granted they were tested by different drivers.. and I think we've already been through the fact that a driver can make the race.
i guess you can tell.. the internet is a bit conflicting, but its the best reference i've got at the moment.

 

but just so you know, I don't doubt the GT being faster.. I just think they may be close for the price difference.

 

Ohh yeah, I can't argue the Corvette for the price point. Yeah I found multiple times for each car. Almost half a second fluctuating each way on both.

Anyway, good race Hisss. Hopefully you cross trails again and it can be a little closer and more exciting next time.
