I was up at taco bell getting a bite to eat and their was a 98-99 cobra just sitting in the parking lot, and I have seen this guy around town alot and i was just wondering what my chances are if we raced from a stop. Im pretty sure its a 5 speed stock and mine is a 94z autowith cai, and cat back exaust soon to have 3.73's. Well what do you guys think?

 

if it is the 98 body style, you will probably have him. it depends on how the driver shifts, and traction, and yada yada .... but they were not supercharged until 03 i believe. i beat a 95 5.0L 5 speed with very little trouble. the 98s had a different engine tho, they started running the 4.6L in 96,but id bet on the LT1 (just not real money lol) good luck with that tho post back if anything happens

 

My neighbor has a stock 98 Cobra (305 HP)and it is about as fast in the 1/4 mile as a stock LT1 Z28. The Z28 is noticeably quicker in the 1/8th mile than the Cobra though (more low end torque) so making it a short race (assuming you can launch well) gives you the advantage.

 

i believe 98 and 99 are different body styles...the newer style would beat you...the older one I'm not sure
