Maybe an axle under the front of the Camaro?
I think you should go for one Damon. You'd really have fun with it!

Maybe another Nova? I seem to know them pretty well. I still LOVE a ****** coupe though, and a glass body is available. Either way I can afford another project right now, I promised a family cruiser next anyhow. I have a special spot for 65' Impalas.

Novas make great gassers! I never see anyone doing 2nd gen Novas, just first gens, but I think an early 68-72 Nova would look great as a gasser. Not sure about something as big as a '65 Impala though!

No I wouldn't make an Impala gasser. I want an old school land yacht for a family crusier. I think a 65' Imp with a modern drive train would fit the bill. The can be lowered or raked both look good to me. A slight rake seems more logical for a family car. No 17s just 15x8s all the way around. Alternatives include 66 GTO/Chevelle and 91 Impala SS.

That's kinda why we bought the old '69 Suburban. I didn't want to lose having a truck, but we needed something big to haul more people too. Saved having two vehicles going this way. We definitely don't need more cars/trucks here!

Started on the roll cage for the Austin today. My bender did the first bend great, then collapsed the 2nd bend! I'm taking my material over to one of my old customer's shop tomorrow to have them do the main hoop bend, so I don't screw up any more expensive seamless .125 wall tubing!
Once the main is done the rest has no 90 degree bends for back supports, etc., so I can do those on my small hydraulic bender.

Ended up taking the tubing for the main hoop over to my old workplace and using one of their benders to fab the main hoop. Worked super, and I thought I might have screwed up and not left enough pipe to finish after the two wrinkled bends yesterday, but has about 8" left, so it was close!
I got it all welded together as a 4 pt, so just two back supports off the main hoop. It will go in place by just pulling the front seats out and dropping the legs through the floor (after hole sawing it) and then tipping the back supports through the package shelf into the trunk.
I'll pre paint it on the part I can't reach after install, so it's finished looking. It's mainly just for my own peace of mind, so I'll feel more comfortable, and have a better place to secure my shoulder harnesses.

The roll cage is probably the only thing I'll farm out on my Camaro. I don't feel confident I can make it turn out exactly the way I want, as tight to the body as possible.

This one is a simple 4 pt. roll bar, not a cage. I just don't have room for a full cage, and wont be going fast enough for even a roll bar, but I wanted a little more safety. These little cars fold up like tin foil if it was to roll, so the roll bar will help.
Plus it just looks cool!

Got my 3.5"x15" slotted wheels, and skinny tires last night from the brown truck! Can't wait to see how they look up front!

Yeah some of those guys can be rough, but a few of the guys tought me a lot about my 56 olds and I learned a lot about motors and old hotrodder tricks from threads on there. They may have went easier on me since I am a 17 year old who is trying to get in to old school/nostalgia stuff. What they say shouldn't bother you, some of those guys are just old and grumpy. Your car is very cool and unique.
