Drives out great on the freeway. Feels a bit softer as I can run the tire pressure a little lower with these, vs. the 40 lbs. I ran on the 14's.
Getting the Falcon ready for the drags this Sunday. It's the big Billetproof Pre '64 drags at Toutle, Wa., and always a really great fun event! Couldn't get ahold of my buddy to borrow his trailer, so I reworked the car and my tow bar to make it a quick release setup that can be removed in a minute, and not leave any brackets, etc. when it's off. Got it all done today, and will test it tomorrow by towing it around town with my '69 Suburban to see how it flat tows.
Still need to get my wrinkle walls screwed to the rims, and put on the car before I head out Sat. We'll be camping out overnight, and watching test and tune Sat., then race Sunday. Hopefully the wrinkle walls will hook up better than the cheater slicks did last year, and I wont spin the tires the length of the strip!

Got a lot closer to ready today! Took the test tow, after sorting out the tow lights, and getting them working! Man this tow bar works so much nicer than the trailer does! Don't think I'll ever use the car trailer again, as it's hard to even know you've got a car behind the truck with a tow bar! Only know when I start braking, and can feel the extra weight pushing.
Also got the wheels screwed to the tires, and cleaned up. Been sorting a small miss at idle, and while checking plugs I found #4 plug wire was broken almost through! Only about 1/3 of the outer sheath holding it, and I couldn't see it with my hot sleeves over the ends of the wires. I felt it as I was pulling the plug boot, and slid the sleeve back to see the break, and arcing. Grabbed a good spare from the old plug wires off my Austin's 355, and used it. Ordered another set of Moroso Mag 40 wires to replace these cheapo Accel wires!
Later this week I'll take the street slicks off, and put the stocker tires and wheels on for flat towing. Then I'll toss the wrinkle walls in the Burb to put on at the track.

Pulled the Accel wires off today, and found two more shaky looking wires. I'll never use Accel again! They used to be good stuff, but sure have gone downhill. Got the new Moroso race wires on, and getting the Burb and the Falcon packed for the trip. Twice as much work as just camping, or just going racing for the day. Heading out early tomorrow, so we can get a good spot, and watch the guys make some runs. I'm not going to run Sat., as I have the car dialed in, so no reason to pay the extra fee to make a few passes Sat. So I'll just pull up a chair and watch the fun tomorrow!

Just a note if anyone is in need of plug wires. Not sure why, but the last two sets of Moroso Mag 40 wires I ordered from Summit were listed as the "Mag 40 unsleeved". But both pairs came as the "Ultra 40 sleeved race wires", with the extra sleeves heat shrunk on the ends to support the boots. So they're selling $110 wire sets for $68. Thought it was an accident a couple months ago, and hoped they'd do it again. Sure enough, the set I got yesterday is the same deal!

Just got in from the Billetproof pre '64 nostalgia drags! What an awesome event, and so many good people, and neat old cars! I love this race!
We did a few runs Sat., after the Cash Bash to see how the cars ran for time. Then the pre '64 drags today. I can't begin to say how pleased I am with how the Falcon performed vs. last year! The Goodyear slicks made a huge difference with a full 1 second quicker ET in the 1/8th mile! I somehow finally got myself to stop sleeping at the lights too, and my reaction times got down as low as a .052 sec. RT! Hate to brag, but even in the races I didn't win, I never lost at the tree, as I beat everyone I raced at the light! And the real high point was when the track warmed up today, and the Falcon began to pull the front wheels off the ground! Not very high at around 3"-4", but enough that my neighbor saw daylight and told me when I got back to the pits! That really made my weekend!

I just looked at my action cam video from in car. Embarassing to say the least! My camera is pointed at my chest and arms for the entire run! I'll download it to Youtube and put a link here' but you wont see much more than me shifting gears, and hear the car make a pass. Then another 4-5 minutes of me waiting in line, going to get my time slip, and talking to a friend.
I'm hoping one of my buddies shot video, and will post it also on youtube, so I can grab their links too!

Fast forward from 6:53 to 10:37 if it hasn't finished editing that section out. It's just several minutes of looking at the empty interior of the Falcon!

I just realized I got a few pictures of our camp/pit area. We moved to an area with more grass later, as the wind really blew the ash dust around!

The race slicks are 10.50-30-15 Goodyear Eagles. Yeah, I really screwed up the videos; and that's actually the best one! LOL The others somehow only got 3-4 sec. and went off.
I hate to go any larger on the slicks, but I will add more screws to the bead so I can drop the pressure down to around 6 psi.
