Default twin or single

I've got an '81 z28 with a 400sb, im planning a project for this winter to go boosted. i havent made up my mind wether to go with 2 t3/t4 hybrids or one big t66. im not going to cut corners im pulling the motor first and more than likely going forged everything on the bottom end plus i already have alluminum heads. Which would you go with in my situation twin or single? im a welder/fabricator by trade so making anythings not a problem i plan on getting the turbo first then making my own headers. my goal is to hit a very low 7 or high 6 in the 1/8th. alsohow do the oil and water cooled turbos work, i've figured out the oil cooled but am new to water cooled. thanks

I am planning the same exact setup this winter also 400 sb with a single garret gt45 turbo. Some turbos actually have both a coolant line and an oil line running throuhg them.I am going single because I have a 93 and space under the hood is an issue for me. Good luck. Are you goin carbed or fi? I am going with a blow through carb because at this point in my life I despise fuel injection. Its a long story and I am very very bitter

yea i believe i have quite a bit more room than you. all the kits i have looked at on ebay have been designed for 82-92 models and if they fit on those years i dont believe i'll have a problem. I'm going with a blow through carb. On a single turbo setup how do you run the exhaust from the manifold without the turbo? do you run it into theturbo manifold somehow or just out through the regular exhaust pipe?

twin is ideal. one small one, for your low end, and one big one for your top end. one big one would be best for top end tho, if thats what your after(v8 TQ anyone?[8D])

i hear turbos are funky in the upper HP tho(like 1000HP+) idk, just heard 2 or 3 people say it, and you never see cars running them on any lower than a 7 sec car. least i dont.

My brother built a 460 for a falcon and it does a 7.26 all motor and its not that built up i think your expectations are kind of low for twin turbo or big single He is in the middle of doing my supercharged 383 with methenal injection not sure what to excpect with it
