Default Whats up fellow Camaro drivers

Just stumbled upon this forum, did a bit of reading and you all seem like a cool bunch of guys so I figured I'd join. Well a little about me and my car. I'm 22 and from Duncan, Oklahoma. I drive a 99' black V6 Camaro that I have a love/hate relationship with. It's all stock except for my sound system. I'm a musician and love music so I've got to have a good system to listen to the tunes. The system consists of 2 15in Memphis subs running off a Rockford Punch 800 watt amp. Infinity 6.5in speakers in the doors and Memphis 6.5in in the rear, all controlled by a JVC deck(which needs replaced). At competition I hit a 147 on the db meter.

I've had my car for about 4 years. I swore I'd never drive a V6 Camaro but since it was a highschool graduation gift I didn't have much say in the matter. I always wanted a V8 Camaro but my Dad didn't want me to have something that fast. When I was 15 we bought a 92' Z28 at an auto auction but once we got it home and drove it he said no way I was getting that, too fast for a 16 year old, so we sold it, made $1000 off of it though. I guess I'm kinda glad he didn't want me to have a V8 because at that time I would have just got lots of tickets, gone through lots of tires, and probably wrecked it. Oh hell, what am I saying, damn you Dad. Just kidding. I like the 30mpg I get in my V6 and I need it for driving to and from college. I love the 4th generation Camaro. They look so mean from the front and have some of the sweetest lines of any car ever made and the only way to get that was go for the V6. I was supprised at that little V6, I mean it's no V8 but pretty quick for a V6 and I've beat some cars I never thought I could. It's had it's problems here and there but it's been a good car and even though I get ragged on for driving a V6 I still am proud of it. But I am in my last year of college and the V6 is getting up there in miles so it's about time for an upgrade. My Dad has been talking about getting me something newer pretty soon and helping me out with the payments until I'm out of school and able to land a job. Ok, so we haven't discussed it in detail and I haven't dropped the bomb on him that I want an 02' SS, but maybe I can convince him that I can handle it now, I mean I'll be paying for most of the car anyway. While some dream about owning exotics my dream car is a Camaro SS. Well enough about me, see ya in the forum, later.

Matt

Ahh yes, sorry I wasn't polititically correct. But you know something, I'm not only in the market for a car, I am also looking for a used woman. I'd perfer low miles, a good set of treads, and a great exterior. Let me know if you find anything like that.

hey, ive had 2 camaros and a vette (76 vette, 94Z28, and now have a 99 SS)...lol and me being 18 my mom still dont sleep till i call her at 1 and tell her where i am...so i def know what you are talking about as far as the convincing goes, i never thought i would do it but i convinced them that just because you have the V8 and it does go fast, doesnt mean you have to (all the time...of course gotta show it off once in a while :-P) later man....oh ya...you will prolly pay a lil more for a 02 SS cuz (im sure you know) that its the last year they were made, but all in all 98-02 SS are the same in my book..

I'd just like to have a 2002 model since they were the last year of production for the 4th generation. If a 2000 or 2001 comes along that's a good deal I wouldn't mind. I'd like an SS but I might go for a Z28, my mind is not completely made up yet. My Dad thinks I need a truck, and the truth is I really do but I love Camaros so much. I've got so much guitar gear and sound equiptment that a truck would come in handy. I can just fit my big amp and a couple guitars in my Camaro. No way I am fitting my JBL 15in double cabs in it. But my 87 GMC pickup that I drove in highschool just sits at my Dad's house and he says I can have it back after I graduate college so I have a truck if I need it. When he mentioned helping me get something new he said he saw a nice new Chevy truck for $20,000 and you can get a nice SS for under $20k. I'd love to get something newer but I'm still not sold on the idea. I'd take over the payments in about a year when I graduate from college and I don't know if I want a car payment, insurance, student loans, and rent piled on me as soon as I get out of college. I might have a job lined up as an assistant manager at Wal-Mart when I graduate but it's not a definate thing right now and I'm afraid it might take me a little while to find a good job. I've always been a buy now, figure out how to pay for it later kinda person but I don't want to fall behind on the really important payments. I should know in a couple weeks if I am going to get into the management program so I guess I'll take it from there once I find out. Hopefully things will fall into place and I'll be able to snach up a nice Camaro.
