hello all. lets see, i currently own a 2002 eclipse with like 150 to the wheels. And, im ready for some real horspower. And of course im looking to the camaro. However, i am at a dilema. I have been reading stuff on the site now for a couple of weeks, and i am for sure going to buy an 01-02. but i am not sure if i should get the SS or Z28. i have read that the ss really doesnt have much of difference from the z28 other then the intake, hood, and catback. so i guess my question is; is the SS worth the couple thousand dollar difference? or am i better off getting the Z28 and modding it?
also i want to say that i am a total newb at the American muscle. i have done some work on my import, but it has no future. and as i said, im ready for a real car. ha. so, any help would be very appriciated. and i apologize for any dumb questions in the future. thanks.

 

hey, i just bought a 99 SS 6 spd, and love it.. i think, my personal view, that people get the SS to have a SS label on the side, (its why i did it) its what i really wanted and to tell you honestly i never thought id have one ,im only 18, but i found a good deal on it so i thought throwing in the 3 grand extra was worth it (i found my 99 SS it had 4800 miles on it) and i could have gotten a Z28 but in my case my money was better spent on the SS..so i guess it depends on how much you have and what you want...either way...lol i think youll be happy with the HP..later

There is no difference in power in the 01' - 02' SS and Z28 .......... go down in years and yes there is a difference. Then you start looking at the LT1 vs LS1 and that plays a good difference.

Most of the SS owners ........... most ........ were current Camaro owners from before ....... thus from already owning one would choose to own another one being an SS if they could get their hands on one.

Myself ... I owned a V6 Camaro 93' .......... loved that car !!!!!!!! Best car in the world ...... drove it brand spankn' new off the lot and had 198k on it when I traded it in !!!!!!! So a Camaro lover I am !!!!!!! Always will be !!!!!!!!!


Thus when I came along this current baby of mine .......... I saw it one day ..... bought it the next !!!!! So yes it is in the blood !!!!!

So really it is just in the individual ...... but everyone is different and everyone has their own " taste " of what they like.
