New here.. I recently obtained a camaro I had several years ago during college. She's seen better days, but looking forward to getting it back in shape. I grew up on a car lot, so been around cars a long time. Always loved older muscle cars, my first car was 69 thunderbird, then 67 cougar which I loved. It was wrecked due to an idiot.. I drove a vehicle off the lot while waiting for it to be repaired, the body guy ended up being a fiasco with a very unacceptable repair made. It was sold, and I drove a vehicle off our lot when starting college.

My father bought it with me in mind during my freshman year of college, drove it several hours just to show it to me. It's a 75 with a 4spd manual and chevy 350. . Loved it, but realized it wasn't a practical car for a kid in college to have. Sold it back to him, and drove a honda crx through school and my career.

He didn't sell it right away, and the following year he was killed in a car wreck..The car sat since the accident for the most part,... I recently moved to California for my career, and only brought my motorcyle... I decided I wanted this car back for the memories, and since I have a bike and don't really -need- a car this will work out perfect.

Here is what it looked like in 2006.

and here is what she looked like when she arrived after being shipped across the country:

The clearcoat is pretty bad all over, the roof is missing a good junk of paint and is bare metal(need to figure out a good way to protect the metal exposed before I have the entire car painted..eventually) There is a rust bubble in the driver rear quarter(It was there when I had it 2006,). Drivetrain feels the same it did then, the suspension does feel a bit soft and brakes are a bit grabby. (possibly just from sitting so long).

I plan to restore it to a 'nice' daily driver condition. I'm in search for a good mechanic for things such as brakes and shocks.. since I can't do the work at my apartment, I plan to get the shocks/whatever else in suspension, and brakes done in the next week or two.. As well replace pretty much every bit of rubber on the car.

After I take care of the mechanical issues of the car, i'd like to get it repainted. I'd love to change it to red, but will most likely keep the existing color.

Look forward to reading, and contributing. If anyone can recommend a shop in the san jose area, love to hear it.
