Thought I would stop in and say hi!

New member and Camaro owner!!

I manage a gas station and accross our lot theres a lil car lot that had this neglected camaro sitting in the back with no prices or nothing....all alone cramed beside a (shudder) beat up mustang.

Thought I would save the poor thing, so offerd them $300 cash and they bit.

Don't know many details on it yet, but do know the following

Its a 1985 camaro (dont know much more on model) all black manual transmision (converted) I am sure they said it had a V6 but don't quote me on that...

I shall know more when I get all the papers.

But from my half done inspection there is very minimal rust (brown spots not all through) on the rear drivers side fender, and under the drivers and passengers door. Thats it for rust. All glass is flawless no cracks or nothing. The seal around almost all the windows...front back and sides need to be replaced (not leaking but really beat up) And thats about it.

I plan on getting an Iroc kit thrown on it, beef up the engine a bit, new tires (small front big back) getting the slats done to the back window (not sure what thats called but im sure you know what i mean) re-tinting the windows and do an interior makeover.... oh and some pretty rims.

After i get all the exterior body work done, going to paint it flat black with flat like yellow racing stripes.

But thats my intro into your great community. I promise to give more info on the car as i learn. ANd lots of pics

One thing, car was originally an Auto, last owner converted to manual and messed it up, so you really have to slam the gears to get it to change....will be fixed of course

YAY got the car out of the lot and have taken some pics.

The car runs good but the clutch is kinda wonky. But once you get used to how it works it runs smooth and i see no problems.
Will have the pictures uploaded later tonite

OK i have the car, check my photo albulm for a few pics will update it with better shots and more pictures soon.

The car is confirmed as:

1985 Camaro RS 2.8 V6

The transmission/clutch works fine unlike what the dealer said. The clutch is a little loose, just needs to be tightend. Its a little stiff on switching gears, and do have to give it a little extra effort to get it in first and reverse. But other then that it runs smooth.

All the lights work, the heater, the power windows...didnt try the locks yet (battery died)

Plans for it ar as followed

Later this month i am dropping a 350 in it. and a new transmission.
Later this month / early next month we are gutting the interior and re-doing all the fabric and seats in black and red.
re-painting all the plastic parts on the interior.
Later in coming months:

Putting in a new stereo / speakers
Sanding whole car down, getting rid of small rust spots and minor body repairs.
Adding a body kit on it (not rice, prob just the IROC kit)
Painting it gloss black with candy apple race stripes.
Getting dark tint on hatchback window (almost a blackout)
Putting new tires / rims on it tires will be smaller in the front
Painting the rims to match the car (black rims with red highlights)
Putting a new hood on it (muscle blower style hood)

As far as the fabric goes. Rather then the current black/grey look we are updateing all the black to a darker fresher fabric, and swapping all the grey for a red.

Many other small changes such as steering wheel, adding GPS, swapping out the stock gauges, new peddels ect.
