New guy from Minnesota
Hi all
Just joined up after lurking and posting over on Corvetteforums.com for the last few months
I was hoping to be a first time C6 Vette owner this coming spring but I may have changed my mind and now I am toying the idea of a Gen 5 Camaro instead. Way more affordable and after reading about how finiky Vettes are ( battery tenders for any more than a couple weeks sitting in the garage for instance, and the outrageous cost of anything related to a Vette) I think a Gen 5 is more what I'm after.
So now I am on the hunt for a Camaro.
Im thinking 2014-2015 SS 6.2 automatic . No ragtops. My budget will probably be around $25 G.
April ,May June this year will be the time I'm ready to pull the trigger on it . In the meantime I want to learn as much as I can about the Gen 5. I enjoy the back and forth on the forums too. You'll see.
First off I bleed Chevy. I'm 56 and all I ever owned is Chevys. I'm mostly a truck guy. I've owned probably 20 Chevy trucks from a 71 shortbed with a 400 small block to a 73 with a 454 with a 72 Chevelle 350 mixed in when was in my twenties . A few 80's Scottsdale's . A couple Duramaxes and at least 11 half ton 4x4 Silverados from 99 when they started calling them all Silverado to the two 2018 Silverados I own now. One is a Double cab LT 4x4 6.5 ft bed with a 5.3 I bought in May . My wife drives this one. My newest one is a loaded Crew Cab 4x4 LT 6.5 bed 5.3 rolling on 22's I bought in December . I'm really into trucks but I need an escape and the need to do a smoky burnout now and then so I'm thinking the Gen 5 is the answer .
Thanks in advance for the welcomes too.

Welcome to the forum Jim,pretty much a Chevy guy here too but I've owned a few others from time to time like my current work beater '99 Dodge Dakota SLT 4X4.
I also have two GMC's so you could say I'm a truck guy too, I'm 62 and have owned many over the years.
I have a '72 High Sierra 3/4 ton 4X4 with a 350 4 speed and 4:10s that my Dad bought new when I was in high school, it needs a resto but it's all original and never been apart.
The other is a 78 High Sierra 3/4 ton 4X4 with a 454 T-400 and 4:56s,this one is lifted with 36" Swampers .

Here are my current rigs. 2018's.
I got a killer deal on both of them.
The silver one is Mamas
The black one is the one I drive. This is the day I bought it. I've since added steps , bed rails , Bedrug, stainless steel exhaust tip . I also just had Katzkin leather seats done in both trucks . Katzkin leather is way nicer than the cheap leather that coms from the factory. Both trucks are 4x4. Both trucks have the same extras added on by me. Like I said I'm a truck guy but I also like Vettes and Camaros. I'm looking forward to hunting down my perfect Camaro
