Default New Camaro Owner . . . sort of . . . `93 SS

Greetings, all! I am in the process of buying my first Camaro and I hope some of the members will let me know if the one I found sounds like a good one . . .

It is a 1993 Camaro with a 3.7 L V-6 and an automatic. It has 198,000 miles, but the body is straight and pretty much rust free. The engine seems strong. The price is $2,000.

I know it is hard to give much of an opinion without seeing the car, but does this seem like a good deal. Is the 3.7 L V-6 a good motor . . . what about the transmission? Are there any major problems with this model . . . are 198,000 miles too many for the price?

Lastly . . . the owner says it is an SS, but I can't find anything to indicate it is an SS . . . nor have I found anything that said they built an SS in 93 . . . any thoughts?? Is there a way to tell an SS from a standard?

If this one doesn't work out I will move on to another . . . I have always wanted a Camaro . . . thanks . . . NAD

Not an SS if it has a V6 and I don't think I would pay that much for a V6 that is that old with that many miles. Maybe $1,200 but that might be pushing it.

It's a 3.8 v6 Camaro with 200,000 miles. I would NOT buy it. The SS camaro came out in 1996 and it has the 5.7 LT1 motor in it.

Try to find a newer one with the catfish nose with lower miles. More reliable since it's newer.

Edit: it's a 93, so it's the 3.4l 3400 v6. Not the 3.8l. My mistake.
