Default Giant hole in engine!

I was having a regular old cruise down these uk motorways when all of a sudden I hear a loud bang and my hood starts smoking. We pull over to the side and there is smoke rising from the hood and oil leaking from the bottom. The car was towed to the nearest shop when they looked under the hood the look on their fave was priceless. There was a giant hole On the side of the engine. Any suggestions on what to do

Welcome to Camaro Forums. You didn't say what your car is, but it doesn't matter. You need a replacement engine. You blew (broke) a rod, and chances are good it did damage to other internal parts as well. Not to mention the block is now trash.

Usually when you kick the rods out of it, the cam is also wiped out to. Did the same thing this summer at the track. Thrust bearing was out and let the crank move back and forth in the block. It then broke a piston and then the rod with the wrist pin took out both sides of the block and put a hole in the pan. 2 1/2 gal of antifreeze and 5 qt. of Schaeffers 5w-30 from the 1000ft on down the track. First time in 36 years of racing that something like that happened.
