Default Engine oil in turbo and cold air intake

I have a 2017 camaro 2.0 turbo. I was wondering if anyone knows why I have some engine oil in my turbo and cold air intake. I went to clean my Injen cold air intake filter and noticed there was some oil inside of it. Any ideas if this or normal or not?? Thanks!

Is the car smoking at all? Are you using oil? Oil pressure is pumped into the turbo. There is a seal between the bearing and the cold side that should keep oil out. I would pull the plugs and see what they look like. If they start to look oil coated you should have it fixed. This seal is a common failure point and if the turbo over heats it will fail faster. The main thing is to make sure you never run low on oil. On a turbo engine this is critical. I have seen cars that looked like a fog machines going down the road, they will foul the plugs but if you swap out the plugs and the O2 sensors and replace the seals all is good. But if you run too low on oil it will take out the the turbo and the engine.

If we are talking a few drops each 1000 miles then I would consider it normal seepage. GM would say that a quart of oil every 1000 miles for the whole motor is normal as long as there are no other symptom's.

i appreciate it bro! I usually put mobile one 15,000 miles but I don’t think it’s lasting that long. I notice I’m losing a few quarts of oil after say 8,000 miles or more before changing the oil again. Not sure if that’s normal or has to do with that? I should probably be changing it every 3,000 miles I’m assuming. Hoping the seal will be under warranty . The car is not smoking at all or having a burning oil smell. Thanks again!

If it determined to just be seal seepage and plugs are not fouling, my guess would be GM would say it is working as designed. Its the same with head gaskets. If you have a oil stain on the side of the motor they won't fix it. You need some other symptom.

Standard GM warranty on the drivetrain is 6 year 60,000 miles.

I am a huge fan of mobile one but you want to verify it meets and exceeds GM requirement for a turbo engine. I would do 3,000 By definition turbo engines have higher cylinder pressure. This means more carbon pushed past the rings and into the motor. some of those partials are too small for a filter. Over time the percentage of carbon will rise. Carbon does not lubricate or transfer heat well. Both of those are important to a turbo engine.
