Windshield Wiper Arm Removal?
Hi, all. My driver's side windshield wiper arm is making a weird noise (not blade-related). Seems like the arm has too much "play" before the thing it's attached to "catches" it with a clunk. Someone suggested I remove the arm to check the splines (?). I can't figure out how to get the arm off, though. Heard the early Camaro's had a special tool. Help a gal out? Thanks in advance.
on alldata they list a tsb for a clunking/rubbing noise during wiper operation. Under the wiper cowl there is a mounting bracket and the one pivot contacts this bracket. your supposed to use a puller to pull the arms off, however there is a trick, use it if you want. you remove the nut cover and the nut on the wiper arm. then you start the nut back on a few turns but keep it loose. then strike the nut with a hard plastic or rubber mallet. CAUTION!!!!!! DO NOT HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHEN YOU DO THIS. After removing both wiper arms, remove the cowl cover and slightly modify the bracket so in doesn't contact the pivot.
